About Us

2002 saw a new way of life for us. I had retired, but Rosemary carried on working and was appointed bursar of Marlwood School. She enjoyed the role, but has since retired. I retired from full time work at the end of 2001 but carried on as a contractor for five years. We both finally hung up our spurs in the summer of 2007.

Since then we've really enjoyed getting to grips with what retirement is all about. We've owned various touring caravans since 1988 and the year tends to have a familiar shape to it; a pre-season shake down for a few days in March, our main holiday in the Loire valley in June, and another week in the autumn in the UK. Some people seem a bit surprised that we keep going back to the same site in France every year, but when you've found somwhere you really like then you are reluctant to change. We happened upon Camping Le Moulin Fort at Francueil, on the River Cher in 2004 and we've been back every year since.

We also like to get out walking and riding our bikes; we take them to France too. I think that first sign of spring that you often get in February, when the evenings are getting noticeably lighter, is what really motivates us.

Oh, and we've also got a new cat (Bertie) - you can read about him HERE. Update - unfortunately Anno Domini got to him a little early and we lost him in July 2014.

Update 2018

After 30 years of towing caravans we finally switched to a Motohome last July, and we are loving it. We go to the same places we always did but tend to go for shorter periods and move site every 3 or 4 days. Also it's much easier to take our bikes on the back of it as opposed to fitting cycle carriers on the car.
